April 13, 2020

I love podcasting. I think it’s the best thing since coffee( and I love coffee) podcasting is such a blast! But beyond being fun it can take your business/brand/dreams to the next level. So today I’m going to share with you the 3 unlikely reasons WHY you should start a podcast for you business or brand. I think these 3 reasons may just push you over the edge and help you decide to start a podcast. At least I hope so!

3 Unlikely Reasons Why You Should Start a Podcast for your Business or Brand:

Podcasting builds know, like, and trust. People buy from people they know like and trust. This is a basic marketing principle. And podcasting builds know like and trust like nothing out there today. Let’s just break it down for a second.

Build Know, Like, & Trust

Know- Customers buy from people they know and well, podcasting allows listeners to get to know you quickly. They hear your voice and learn your quirks and mannerism- how you speak, if you have southern drawl or accent from jersey. And while they are getting to know you, they are also bringing you along in their daily life…while they cook dinner or walk the dog, the intimate part of their day. So not only are they getting to know you but they will feel this true connection with you that just isn’t possible through social media or reading a blog post.

Like- I would assume that most listeners who are sticking around to listener to your show like you and like what you have to say. But if they don’t that’s ok. Because when building a brand/ business you don’t need to be everyones cup of tea, just those that you want to attract- your ideal listen/avatar.

Trust- consumers buy from people they trust, this is the hardest part of the know, like trust. So how do you get them to trust you? Earn over time – By being consistent, by showing up each week and serving them: delivering clear and helpful information. Over time they are going to trust you. And podcasting will allow you to do that.

Monetizing Potential

Let me give you some quick statistics: 51% of the US population has listened to a podcast. 49% listen at home while they are multitasking, and have their phone and computer at their finger tips. 80% listen to all or most of an episode. And this statistic is MIND BLOWING 45% of monthly podcast listeners have household income over $75K. These Listeners are also potential customers. Lots of potential AND current podcasters think they can’t monetize their podcast unless they hit big numbers or have been doing it for along time but that’s just not true. Today more than ever, there is potential to make good money from podcasting. A few ways:

  • Sponsorships/Ads
  • Affiliate Links
  • Patreon
  • Products
  • Podcast Swag
  • Books -(ebooks, print books etc) journals, devotionals,
  • Sell Services
  • Coaching
  • Courses
  • Membership Site
  • Host a live event

Grow Your Business/Brand

Podcasting can grow your existing audience and expose you to new audiences, which in turn grows your business. One of the best ways to do that is through having guests on your show. As an avid podcast listener I’m always hearing new guests or episodes and following that person on social media.

But you can also grow your audience AND email list without guests. podcasting allows you to offer freebies and bonuses in episodes that listeners can opt-in via an email address. And podcast allows you to create, market content for your avatar like nothing else out there.

So there you have it! Three reasons you probably haven’t consider, for starting a podcast for your brand/business/dream!
